Following the TV spots and poster released this week, a new, longer trailer for the upcoming superhero showdown Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is now online. Check it out below:
The film sees Henry Cavill reprise his lead role from Man of Steel, while Ben Affleck will make his debut as Batman. As well as battling each other, these two legendary heroes are set to face an even greater enemy in the monstrous shape of Doomsday.
Speaking to Empire magazine this month, director Zack Snyder spoke about the decision to reveal the creature in the movie’s first full trailer. “To go up against heroes like Batman and Superman, we wanted to introduce one of the DC Universe’s most iconic and powerful villains”, he said (via DoG). “He is essentially an unstoppable force. He poses a real threat to the world within the film”.
Snyder also hinted at a connection between Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Jesse Eisenberg’s manipulative Lex Luther, both of whom can seen in the new trailer. “You learn pretty early on that Lex is interested in metahuman existence, and that there might be some relationship between that investigation and the appearance of Diana Prince,” he said.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice opens on March 25, 2016. It also stars Amy Adams, Diane Lane, Jeremy Irons, Holly Hunter, and Laurence Fishburne.
