A Canadian figure skater gave the world what we can only assume is its first adaptation of Cowboy Bebop on ice last week…to an extent, anyway.
The performance came courtesy of Kevin Reynolds, a 25-year-old Olympic silver medalist. At the 2016 Canadian National Figure Skating Championships, Reynolds entered the rink to Yoko Kanno’s famous theme “Tank!” — the opening song of the equally recognizable anime Cowboy Bebop.
According to Golden Skate, Reynolds’ routine, which he performed while dressed like series protagonist Spike Spiegel, earned him third place. The performance included both a “quadruple Salchow-triple toe loop,” and a “triple Axel.” Unfortunately Reynolds fell on the second maneuver, though he managed to right himself very quickly.
