Bryan Fuller (Hannibal, American Gods, Pushing Daisies) has been named the showrunner of CBS’ forthcoming Star Trek series, the network announced Tuesday. This marks a return home for Fuller, who began his career writing for Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and Star Trek: Voyager.
Fuller will be the series’ co-creator and executive producer. Alex Kurtzman (the Star Trek rebooted movies) will serve as executive producer.
The new series — produced by CBS Television Studios and the first original series developed for their subscription VOD and live streaming service CBS All Access — will launch with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network in early 2017.
