The collaboration between Disney and Lego has already produced several acclaimed Star Wars shows, including Droid Tales and The Yoda Chronicles. The toy manufacturer last week announced a new series of shorts that would be set shortly before The Force Awakens, titled Lego Star Wars: The Resistance Rises. New episodes will premiere on the DisneyXD network, and the first one has now been released online. It’s called Poe to the Rescue and can be watched here:
This isn’t the only new Lego Star Wars show on the way. Last week, Disney confirmed that a new series entitled The Freemaker Adventures was in development, and unveiled poster art for the show:
A statement revealed that it would focus on “a family of scavengers who build and sell starships from the scoured debris of space battles strewn throughout the galaxy.”
As reported by Slashfilm, Lego Group vice president, licensing and entertainment Jill Wilber, said: “[The] show masterfully combines the rich heritage of storytelling, great characters, action and adventure in a galaxy far, far away with the creativity, imagination and humor that only Lego Star Wars can deliver.”
The Freemaker Adventures will also screen on DisneyXD, although a broadcast date is currently unconfirmed.
The Lego Star Wars: The Force Awakens game will be released in June. Last week it was revealed that the game will provide additional information and details about the characters from the blockbuster movie.
