Wow, Kim Kardashian’s Mobile Game Is Really Popular

Today at the DICE Summit conference in Las Vegas, Glu Mobile CEO Niccolo de Masi shared a slide that speaks to the enormity of Kim Kardashian Hollywood. It’s been downloaded more than 84 million times since launch in summer 2014, with players logging around 3.29 billion sessions. Players have spent around 35,000 years in the game. You can see more stats in the slide below.

De Masi also shared that Hollywood generated more than $100 million in its first five months. The game is free, but you can spend real-world money on a number of different microtransactions.

The executive went on to say one of the reasons Hollywood is so popular is because its promotion feels “authentic.” Kardashian from time to time posts about the game to her Twitter and Instagram pages, where she has around 100 million combined followers.

De Masi explained that Hollywood aims to feel like a “living, breathing” game because it constantly evolves based on what Kardashian does in real life. In that sense, it will continue to feel fresh, giving Glu more and more opportunities to make even more money from it.

Kardashian’s half-sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner today launched their own game from Glu Mobile. Looking ahead, Glu Mobile will release a Taylor Swift game later this year. De Masi described Taylor Swift today in his talk as “the world’s most popular person.”
