DC finally revealed their plans for the “DC Rebirth” relaunch at the ComicsPRO retailer meeting in Portland, OR today. Look for DC’s entire superhero lineup to be relaunched with a new slate of books.
Rebirth will kick off on May 25 with the release of an 80-page standalone comic called DC Universe: Rebirth #1, which will be written by Geoff Johns and feature art from Ethan Van Sciver, Phil Jimenez, Ivan Reis and Gary Frank. From there, DC will launch 32 new ongoing series (15 shipping once-a-month and 17 shipping twice-a-month). Following an introductory DC Rebirth special, each of these new series will start over with #1 (with the exception of Action Comics and Detective Comics, which will revert to their pre-New 52 numbering). All of these books will have a cover price of $2.99, recalling DC’s “Hold the Line at $2.99” promotion from several years ago.
