The nine developers who compose startup studio Highwire Games all have decorated resumes. Roughly half of them were long-time Bungie (Halo, Destiny) veterans, with the rest being tenured members of Sucker Punch (Infamous). Between them their games have sold hundreds of millions of copies. So why, we wondered during our visit for our month-long IGN First coverage, would they choose to move to the brand-new, unproven virtual reality sector?
“Any new thing for a pure tech guy is like ‘Yes!’” said Highwire co-founder Jared Noftle. “It’s also a place where you can do something with a small team,” added fellow co-founder and Halo’s “30 seconds of fun” gameplay loop inventor Jaime Griesemer.
