In a June update blog post, Valve has announced it has sold over half a million Steam Controllers since their release last year.
In addition to the controller’s original features, you can now configure and use the controller from your desktop, and its Force Reactors can now “capture and reproduce the rumble effects” from various games. There’s also full Steam Controller support in VR Game Theater mode, including being able to use its motion controls as a virtual steering wheel.
There are also more configuration options coming soon. Valve says upcoming updates will include being able to use Activators to assign actions to press-and-hold, double click, toggle, and more. The example the company gives is being able to cycle through all your weapons in DOOM by pressing a button, or double tapping it to bring up the BFG.
