Disney has announced a special panel at its Star Wars Celebration for Europe next month. On Sunday, July 17, there will be a panel titled “Future Filmmaker Discussion” during which the directors of the upcoming Star Wars Episode VIII (December 2017) and untitled Han Solo movie (2018) will provide a “glimpse of what the future holds in the Star Wars galaxy.”
Those directors are Rian Johnson (Episode VIII) and Chris Miller and Phil Lord (Untitled Han Solo movie). The talk will be moderated by Lucasfilm Story Group boss Pablo Hidalgo, and other panelists include Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy and Lucasflim VP Kiri Hart.
The panel is “sure to include some surprises and end the weekend on a high note,” according to a post on the Star Wars website. Disney also called it a “must-see event.” Whether or not it will be livestreamed remains to be seen.
Whatever the case, there will be hugging as well.

Little is known about Episode VIII or the Han Solo movie. Regarding Episode VIII, many of the film’s actors, including Daisy Ridley (Rey) and John Boyega (Finn), have said it will be “darker” than The Force Awakens, but it remains to be seen what that means.
As for the Han Solo film, we recently learned that Alden Ehrenreich will play the iconic smuggler. Ehrenreich was seen most recently in the Coen brothers’ comedy Hail Caesar!, and also appeared in Stoker and Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine.
