During a roundtable interview session tonight featuring members of the Horizon: Zero Dawn development team, many questions were put forth about the “nitty gritty” of what the PlayStation 4 Pro allows for in terms of performance. The panelists, which included Guerrilla Games managing director Herman Hulst and art director Jan-Bart Van Beek, provided some details, but fans can expect a deeper dive soon.
Van Beek mentioned a presentation that PS4 lead system architect Mark Cerny will give in the time ahead, where he will discuss the PS4 Pro’s specs in greater detail. This has not yet been formally announced. A PlayStation representative jumped in to say, regarding the Cerny presentation, that, “We’ll have more technical details in the near future.”
It remains to be seen when this Cerny presentation will take place or what the format will be. We’ll report back with more information as it becomes available.
All of this came in response to a question about if Horizon: Zero Dawn’s assets are rendered in 4K for the PS4 Pro version. Van Beek said it’s not quite 4K, but it’s “so close” that you may not be able to tell.
“It’s not native 4K. It is perceptively so close that you wouldn’t be able to see the difference with normal human eyes,” he said.
Horizon: Zero Dawn is one of a number of games that will make use of the PS4 Pro’s new capabilities such as 4K and HDR.
