Spoilers follow for Doctor Strange.
One of the standout characters in Marvel’s Doctor Strange isn’t really a character at all… at least, not in the traditional sense. It’s actually a cloak; the title sorcerer’s Cloak of Levitation to be exact. But despite the mystical garment’s distinctly unique state of being — or perhaps because of it — the thing has already become a fan favorite aspect of the film, bringing some unexpected CGI-fueled humor and action to the adventures of the latest MCU hero much in the way Rocket and Groot did in Guardians of the Galaxy.
I recently spoke with Stephane Ceretti, the visual effects supervisor on both Doctor Strange and Guardians, and he explained how Rocket and Groot in fact helped feed into the creation of the cloak.
