Initial ticket sales for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story couldn’t match that of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Instead, the film had the second-highest day one pre-sales in the history of the domestic box office.
According to Variety, IMAX Entertainment CEO Greg Foster shared the news during a conference with investors, but didn’t disclose just how many tickets were sold. According to Foster, the ticket sales specifically for IMAX are “on the high end of the range” compared to other major blockbusters.
Additionally, MovieTickets.com and Fandango have reported that first day ticket pre-sales for Rogue One were the highest both ticketing services have had all year.
