Aquaman star Jason Momoa appeared at CinemaCon Wednesday to promote his DC superhero’s solo film, which hits theaters December 2018.
Momoa, who said he was just hours away from flying to Australia to begin working on Aquaman, introduced a brief video and recorded message from the film’s director, James Wan.
The video included no actual movie footage as filming has not yet begun. Instead, attendees screened conceptual imagery to get a sense of the scope and design of Wan’s film. And it looked truly epic, the director’s grandest undertaking yet. Furious 7 may have shown what Wan could do in terms of action sequences, but this Aquaman video hinted at what Wan might achieve when working at a scale not dissimilar to Peter Jackson’s Middle-earth saga.
