Josh Brolin has been cast as Cable in Deadpool 2.
IGN can confirm that Brolin, who currently serves as Thanos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has signed a four-film deal to play the character who was first teased in a post-credits scene of the original Deadpool film.
The four-picture deal would likely extend beyond roles in Deadpool-centric films, as producer and writer Simon Kinberg has said that both Deadpool and Cable will appear in the planned X-Force movie.
Brolin first debuted as Thanos in Marvel Studios’ cinematic universe, which exists separately from Fox’s Marvel universe, in 2014. He also made a cameo appearance as the character in 2015’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and is set to return in Avengers: Infinity War in 2018. He also starred as DC Comics character Jonah Hex in the antihero’s self-titled 2010 film.
