Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, the latest chapter of Square Enix’s arena-fighting-RPG hybrid series, arrives this week. At this point, though, we’ve already seen most of the tricks Dissidia has up its sleeves — it keeps recycling the same Final Fantasy heroes and concepts. In our opinion, it’s time for them to mix things up a little.
After all, Square Enix has a deep bench of game franchises to draw from. There’s more to life than Final Fantasy! There’s Dragon Quest, and Chrono Trigger, and Tomb Raider, and… well, honestly, the company has more than enough properties to draw on that taking the Smash Bros. approach to Dissidia could make for a pretty wild ride. And a weird one, too.
