Hellboy Movie Reboot: Massive First Poster Revealed

There hasn’t been much news about the upcoming Hellboy movie reboot since the release date was confirmed back in December, but we now have some promotional art. The movie is set to arrive in January next year, and the new poster was revealed by its co-star, Resident Evil‘s Milla Jovovich.

The artwork was spotted by Jovovich on the side of a building on Wiltshire Boulevard in Los Angeles. It doesn’t actually use any imagery from the movie, and instead features Hellboy and Jovovich’s character, the evil Blood Queen, in comic book form. But it’s big and looks very cool–check it out below:

Hellboy releases on January 11, 2019. It stars David Harbour (Stranger Things) in the title role, with Deadwood‘s Ian McShane as Professor Broom. The movie is directed by Neil Marshall, who is best known for his TV work on Game of Thrones and this month’s Netflix show Lost in Space, as well as movies such as The Descent and Doomsday. A first image of Harbour as Hellboy was revealed in September.

While details surrounding the new movie are being kept under wraps, Harbour previously teased that it wouldn’t be an origin story. “We kind of pick up the movie like we’re running and gunning,” he said. “We do have a little bit of stuff where we show stuff, but it really is a story and you just drop in with this guy.”

The first two Hellboy movies starred Ron Perlman as the titular demon who fights supernatural villains, with Guillermo del Toro serving as director. Back in June, comedian Patton Oswalt got Perlman and Harbour to sit down together, at which point the first Hellboy gave his approval to his successor.

“Apparently Patton Oswalt aka balvenieboy thought it was a good idea to host [David Harbour] and yours truly for a detente dinner,” Perlman wrote on Facebook. “The result: I gained 3 pounds and ruined my liver. Meanwhile, good luck kid! Signed, the babe.”
