Sony is reportedly ending production of physical cartridges for PlayStation Vita.
Kotaku reports Sony’s American and European branches plan to end cart production by the close of “fiscal year 2018,” although digital distribution of games will continue. Sony’s 2018 fiscal year ends March 31, 2019.
According to Kotaku, the news was revealed in a message Sony sent game developers, in which Sony asked all product code requests be submitted by June 28, 2018, with final purchase orders entered by February 15 of next year. A representative for Sony has confirmed to IGN that Vita physical cart production will be ending and that Kotaku’s report is accurate.
