Incredibles 2: Biggest Opening Weekend Ever for an Animated Movie

Disney-Pixar’s latest sequel, Incredibles 2, had the biggest opening weekend ever for an animated film – and it isn’t even close.

Coming in during the lucrative Father’s Day weekend, Incredibles 2 earned $180 million in the domestic market across 4,410 theaters, according to¬†Variety. The previous record was held by Finding Dory, another one of Pixar’s sequels that took forever to come out, which earned $135 million in its opening weekend in 2016.

Incredibles 2 also became eighth largest domestic opening of all time, overtaking another one of Disney’s films for the spot: last year’s Beauty and the Beast, which netted $174.6 million during its debut weekend.
