Multiple Diablo Projects Are In The Works At Blizzard

Blizzard has dropped some news on Twitter regarding the dungeon-crawling Diablo series. In addition to saying it would continue using themes for future seasons of Diablo III, community manager Brandy Camel said in a video that Blizzard is currently working on multiple other Diablo projects.

“The forges here at Blizzard are burning hot, and we have multiple Diablo projects in the works,” Camel said. “Some of them are going to take longer than others, but we may have some things to show you later this year.”

That’s all the new information we got, but this isn’t the first hint we’ve seen that Blizzard is working on new Diablo games. A job listing for a dungeon artist appeared on the company’s website earlier this year. The listing said it was for an “unannounced Diablo game.” Whether that would be a full sequel to Diablo III or some kind of spinoff was unclear.

A Blizzard Twitter post from February, showing a demonic nightlight flicking on and off, also sparked rumors that Diablo III was heading for Nintendo Switch, although Blizzard denied it, saying, “We can assure you we’re not that clever.” Even so, Eurogamer said its sources confirmed a Switch port is, in fact, in the works.

As for Diablo III, its 14th season was based on the theme of greed. As such, all Treasure Goblin spawns were doubled, so when one Goblin would normally appear, two appeared instead, doubling the amount of loot players could collect if they were fast enough to slay them both. According to Camel, upcoming seasons will also have themes.
