Ryan Coogler is back to both direct and write a Black Panther sequel.
IGN has confirmed that Coogler has closed a deal to return for another Black Panther film for Marvel Studios. Coogler directed this year’s blockbuster hit Black Panther and co-wrote the film with Joe Robert Cole. THR does not mention whether Cole will also be returning to write.
As originally reported by THR, Coogler is, as of this deal looking, to write the film next year, with a tentative plan to start shooting the sequel in late 2019 or early 2020. A Black Panther sequel has not officially been announced or dated, however. Outside of Spider-Man: Far From Home, Marvel’s exact post-Avengers 4 plans are largely unknown.
