Microsoft’s X018 event is set to begin today, November 10, at 1 PM PT/4 PM ET/9 PM GMT/ 8AM November 11 AEDT. It’s being held in Mexico City, but those not able to attend the event will be able to see what the company has planned for Xbox One and PC here via the magic of video streaming. The opening Inside Xbox stream will also be hosted on YouTube (below), Twitch, and Mixer, and is expected to last around two hours long.
Although we don’t know exactly what will be shown, the platform holder has given us a few teases of what to expect. First up, a tweet confirmed that there will be “big news” for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Shadow of the Tomb Raider‘s The Forge expansion will make an appearance, and there will be a showcase of new updates to State of Decay 2. Beyond that, there will be “more exclusive looks” at upcoming titles.
As you can tell from the YouTube thumbnail above, X018 is also likely to give us more information about Crackdown 3, Devil May Cry 5, Kingdom Hearts 3, Sea of Thieves, Minecraft, Just Cause 4, and id@Xbox. Additionally, the Xbox Game Pass service will no doubt get some time in the spotlight. The service gives subscribers access to a library of Xbox 360 and Xbox One games, which they can download and play at no additional cost for as long as they are members.
Microsoft has revealed its plans to expand Game Pass to PC. CEO Satya Nadella reportedly mentioned this during an earnings call, stating that this move would help increase the strength of the Xbox brand. As of yet, a timeframe for when Game Pass will be on PC has not been confirmed.
X018 is a “global celebration of all things Xbox” and the latest in a an aggressive marketing campaign Microsoft has undertaken this year. It recently introducing a new payment plan for Xbox consoles called Xbox All Access, offering its current hardware at affordable prices. It also recently revealed more of its streaming plans, confirming that Project xCloud is planned for testing in 2019.
